A demanding trip which includes hiking and trekking in the most famous Slovak mountains complemented by sightseeing in the areas with the most interesting cultural sites. 
Should the hikes described below be too difficult, alternative paths can be selected for less experienced hikers on request.

The walking/hiking paths are graded from 1-5 (1 – easy walking, small ascents/descents; 5 – heavy trekking, steep ascents/descents, rocks, climbing supported by chains).

Day 1 - Arrival to Vienna airport, transfer to central Slovakia


Arrival at Vienna airport, transfer to Banska Stiavnica in central Slovakia.
Sightseeing in the town centre of 
Banska Stiavnica including a short visit to the underground passages beneath the city, short hiking with panoramic views over the town and surrounding mountains (the Low Tatras are visible in good weather)
Dinner and a cultural programme of local folklore including the melancholic sounds of the 
Accommodation: three-star hotel in the centre of Banska Stiavnica, lunch & dinner included.

Day 2 - Vlkolinec, hiking in the Choc mountains 

Transfer to the north of the country, sightseeing of a spectacular mountain village of Vlkolinec
Hiking in the Choč Mountains – through one of the most beautiful Slovak valleys - Prosiecka and Kvacianska valleys

We will experience various trekking paths:  walking beside a river, climbing with the assistance of chains, strolling through meadows and forests.

Day 3 - Hiking in the Western Tatras. 

Full day trekking in the Western Tatras

 Climbing up one of the peaks: Baranec, difficulty level 4

We will eat our picnic lunch up on the ridge while enjoying fantastic views over the High Tatras, the Low Tatras and the valleys below. On the way down, we will make a stop in a chalet to taste typical Tatra tea (you will be surprised what sort of tea it is!).

Day 4 - Spiš region (UNESCO heritage)

Cultural day, transfer to the Spis region with a short stop in the High Tatras

We will take the funicular to Hrebienok and a short walk to the most famous waterfalls in the High Tatras.

 The tour will take in Spiš Castle (with lunch in the castle courtyard), the early gothic church in Zehra and the picturesque Gothic and Renaissance town of Levoča where we can admire the highest wooden altar in the world.

Day 5 - Slovak Paradise
Full day hiking in the Slovak Paradise.

 The area is a real paradise for hikers and climbers. We will do a relatively demanding trek through the canyon of the Hornad River and then up the gorge to Klastorisko where the ruins of a 13th century monastery can be found.

Day 6 - Dobšinská Cave (UNESCO heritage) and transfer to the Malá Fatra mountains

Visit to Dobšinská Cave - one of the most spectacular caves in Slovakia
Transfer to the
Malá Fatra, lunch in a cosy restaurant in one of the villages there, in the afternoon, a few hours hiking again

Day 7 - The Malá Fatra Mountains
Full day hiking in the Malá Fatra mountains.

We will take one of the most spectacular hiking trails through the gorge of Jánošíkove diery. The path continues to the ridge of the mountains and back down to the hotel.

Day 8 - Transfer to Piešťany area

After the days of hiking, we will set out by bicycle and make a visit to "New Zealand" in the hills above Piešťany.
Those who prefer to relax can try some of the treatments in the best-known Slovak spa (not included in the price).

Day 9

Departure to Bratislava, short sightseeing in Bratislava and transfer to Austria

We will take a journey through Roman history at the fascinating open-air museum of Carnuntum.
