The Czech republic (short form Czechia/Česko) is a landlocked country in Central Europe. In 1918 the common state of Czechs and Slovaks, Czechoslovakia was established on the ruins of the former Austro-Hungarian monarchy. In 1993 Czechoslovakia was split into two separate countries again.  

Nowadays Czech republic is an independent country with 10.5 millions of inhabitants. 

The country shares borders with Slovakia to the East, Germany to the West, Austria to the South and Poland to the North. The capital is Prague and it is the biggest Czech city with 1,3 million inhabitants. Czech republic is a member of  the European Union, NATO, the OECD, the OSCE, the Council of Europe and the Visegrád Group. The official language is Czech, which is one of Slavonic languages. The official currency is Czech crown (CZK/Kč - koruna česká).

Czechia has a lot to offer - wine cellars in the South, mountains in the North, spas and healing wells in the West, many historical monuments such as castles, churches, chateaus... and do not forget about the beer! The Czech republic has a long history of producing some of the best beers in the world!
