Spiš Castle

The castle had its origin in the 12th century, but even in earlier times there was a Celtic settlement here. The castle remained inhabited until the end of the 17th century and it used to be the main seat of the district administrator. The castle’s architecture is striking and its hilltop setting offers visitors unforgettable views. Another noteworthy fact is that the castle’s area of more than 4 ha makes it one of the biggest castle complexes in Europe.
