Trekking in the HIGH TATRAS and the WESTERN TATRAS

The HIGH TATRAS

The High Tatras are well known to every hiker in Central Europe. Even though, they are rather small in area, the hiking and climbing opportunities are numerous. You can take some of the easy paths like “the Tatra highway”  extending across the High Tatras from the West to the East or climb some of the rocky peaks incl. the highest peak of the Tatras – Gerlachovsky peak (2655 m). However,  this peak  can be only be reached under the supervision of the experienced mountain guides. 

Trekking path 1: Strbske Pleso (1355 m) to Rysy (2499 m)

The WESTERN TATRAS

The Western Tatras are similar to the character of the High Tatras, trekking trails in the forests, stone pavements, rocks (climbing supported by chains). However, they are much less crowded compared to the High Tatras and the views are as magnificent as the ones offered in the High Tatras.

  Jalovecka valley (810 m) - Banikov (2178 m) - Ziarska chalet (1325 m) – Ziarska valley (900 m)
