Auschwitz Birkenau, German Nazi Concentration and Extermination Camp

It was the largest of the German concentration camps, consisting of Auschwitz I (the Stammlager or base camp); Auschwitz II–Birkenau (the Vernichtungslager or extermination camp). About 1.1 million people died here. Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals... all the "enemies of the national socialism".

Nowadays we can find there 45 brick and 22 wooden barracks, preserved remains of the gas chambers and cremational pits for cremators, original fencing, chimneys and bases of the destroyed barracks. During your visit you can see all the things left after the dead prisoners, too - this gives the whole sight-seeing a real and terrific atmosphere, because you can assure yourself this was a real thing.
